Neuschwanstein Castle is located on a rugged hill in Barariva, Germany. It was commissioned by Ludwig II of Barivia as a retreat but was opened to the public after his death in 1886 and now more than 1.3 million people visit the castle annually.
3. Hohensalzburg Castle, Austria
Built in the 11th century and later expanded in the 14th century, Hohensalzburg castle is one of the oldest, most preserved castles in Europe. Located on a mountain in Salzburg it is also one of the largest medieval castles in Europe with a length of 250 meters and a width of 150 meters.

Located on the north coast of Wales, UK, Conwy Castle was built by Edward the I during his conquest of Wales in the 13th century. With 8 towers on the Castle it makes it the most expensive that Edward I ever made.
