A couple from Lancashire, England were not content to go on an airplane once a year for their yearly vacation, instead they saved their money and turned the upstairs of their two up two down home into a Boeing 737 simulator complete with a cockpit and flight deck.
It all started in 2009 when the couple, who are huge airplane enthusiasts, converted their spare room into a flight stimulator. The couple moved shortly after and the simulator had to be dismantled piece by piece and moved to their new home 180 miles away. When the simulator was put back together, it was so large that it stretched from once side of the house to the other.
The downstairs of Steve and Vicky Emersons home is just like anyone else’s and looks completely normal. Visitors would have no idea that there was a full size flight deck on the floor above them. Half of the upstairs including the entire spare bedroom and part of the bathroom with the toilet and bath still intact has been converted into an airplane. Steve and Vicky are so obssesed about airplanes that they even got married on a Concorde.
The couple scoured websites like eBay to find all of the items they would need to build a replica. The original cockpit has been extended into a 12 seater cabin, an air-bridge and a departure lounge. The aviation room is now so large that is has had to be moved to a unit in an industrial estate just a few minutes down the road.
The couple are now opening their simulator up to the public for a little as $106 and offers trips to places such as Hong King and New York.
